Ian Berry - Providing Sustainable & Increased Momentum for Strong Businesses Since 1991

better business results at less personal cost, through more people feeling valued, living values and delivering value, since 1991

In one sentence how would your most engaged employees describe your culture?

In one sentence how would your most disengaged employees describe your culture?

Somewhere in between the above extremes is the truth about your culture.

I summarise culture as "your human operating system that determines the value of all your interactions and transactions and therefore the value of your business."

Culture is often described as "the way we do things around here."

In my world this is only part true. I believe it's Who Before Do.

One of the greatest challenges facing every organisation in a digital world is your capacity to be human.

"The most exciting breakthroughs of the twenty-first century will not occur because of technology, but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be human." - John Naisbitt

Through working with more than 1000 leaders, women and men, in over 40 countries since 1991, I’ve developed seven really useful models for being human at work. They are pictured below and you can learn more about each one here.

Using the above models as I guide I will help you in your own best way to:

be first to disrupt, breakthrough or change the status quo for the better (pioneer),
increase your value by being better, different or more unique (innovator),
leave a legacy while you’re alive, future-proof your business, make the world a better place (role model).

Above all our work together means you'll be fully appreciating and getting the best out of yourself and other people.

A key consequence will be better business results at less personal cost.

From 1974 - 1991 I enjoyed a highly successful corporate finance career, holding Branch, State, and Regional leader roles. In gratitude to my employees I accepted numerous awards for my leadership, development of people, and results.

At the end of my corporate career I was leading a 100million AUD business unit with responsibility for over 300 employees.

When I left the corporate world to start my own mentoring, speaking and leadership and cultural development practice, I thought people would want to know about my pathway to success, particularly as I started at the very bottom of the ladder.

I discovered that my way was unlikely to work for you as well as it did for me.

I also discovered that I was competing with a myriad of people teaching their way to success. Their way wasn’t working for you as well as it did for them either.

I learned a different way to what the many offer - Work with you and help you in your own best way, to apply proven principles. My signature has become "what I say is important, yet nowhere near as important as what you hear yourself say to yourself, and then do your own unique work.

Below is a snapshot of some of the great organisations whose leaders I've helped to be remarkable since 1991:

Priscilla ChanFounder & Director at Speakers Connect and China Speakers Agency

Ian is a very wise man and his book “Changing What’s Normal” is a great summary of his wisdom. Need some inspiration? It is the book you should refer to.

Darren RixFranchisee Avis Ballarat & Western Victoria, Budget Ballarat & Bendigo

At the start of 2015 it became clear on the road ahead for my business we were facing some serious challenges.

We had just purchased the Budget franchise and were experiencing inconsistent business results, some big rental agency changes, and some poor staff attitudes had crept in.

I had heard Ian speak at a function in 2014 and I had been impressed with the message of his talk that day.

Ian has worked as a mentor to me for the last 14 months. He's also run sessions and worked 1:1 with my staff.

We've made several small shifts in how we conduct our business that have made a significant difference with my key people, how we work, and to our results.

Chris Shaywhen Managing Partner Horwath Brisbane, now COO Crowe Horwath Australia

We initially hired Ian to conduct our Directors Strategic Retreat. Over those 2 days we decided to engage Ian to help us create the culture we desired. We soon appointed him Non-Executive Chairman, a role Ian fulfilled with great skill and commitment.

Justin TaylorGeneral Manager, Galaxy Projects

Without doubt, I would be selling Ian's capabilities short if I tried to summarise his life's work.... so I won't, other than to say what he has done for the Taylor family.

To put that simply, we have used Ian on several occasions over the past decade as a business and life coach, and he has helped us through taking his theoretical research and developing it into practical solutions relevant to our situation.

Ian sat on our board for a number of years and as an avid blogger and publisher, regularly shares his collective wisdom from decades of business experiences. This alone has been helpful and thought provoking.

Jacqueline DoonManaging Director, Ormco Pty Ltd, Australia

I wanted to write to say thank you again, for such an inspiring lecture you gave to the TEC 19 group, up in the Blue Mountains over a week ago. You have had a significant impact on my thinking for the future and life in general. I know I will have contact with you again.

Joe AdamsAcademy for Chief Executives, Group 11 London

Ian Berry spoke at my Academy for Chief Executives Group. He was a very popular speaker with my members, with average marks of 8.8. Ian’s authenticity and ‘no-holds-barred’ approach to leadership was refreshing, inspirational, motivational and had great take away value. As I say, he ‘calls a spade a shovel’, and I highly recommend him to any CEO or Managing Director who wants to positively impact performance within their organisation

Michelle PowellManaging Director, WaiveStar Group

Ian is an industry leader, and an expert with incredible insight into what you need to do to enhance peoples' inherent gifts and bring out the very best performance of your leaders and employees.

WaiveStar Group asked Ian to consult to our business over 6 months ago and his wisdom and mentoring skills have changed and enhanced the way each and every one of us interact with our team members, our peers and our clients. Lifting the bar every day on how we do business.

Matt ChurchFounder Thought Leaders Global

Ian is a great synthesiser. He works with brilliant people to deliver high end solutions. I strongly recommend him to you.

Chris PikeGeneral Manager – Culture & Community, Surf Coast Shire Council

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ian for close to two years in one-on-one and group settings. Ian’s unconventional in his approach (refreshing!) but works to a brilliantly simple yet powerful philosophy that centres around our experiences as human beings (shocking I know!!). He’s a purpose and values-driven mentor and team builder who I’d recommend to anyone.

Malcolm WhiteManaging Director, Communicat

We have had some great presentations at our breakfasts, and your presentation was one of the very best ever.

Jody TuckerTucker Creative Pty Ltd

I participated in an engaging and entertaining seminar presented by Ian and was inspired to go further. Now that I have undertaken and benefited from Ian’s intensive mentoring program, his teachings have become integral to the success of my personal and business life.
