Mentoring your mentors program

For leaders and mentors who love to learn yet don’t want to be taught!

Overall this program is the simplest, most profound and profitable way that I can help you to increase the number of people consistently bringing the best version of themselves to their work every day.

The BIG outcome for your business will be better business results at less human and business cost through significant savings, and improved top and bottom lines.

In a nutshell

Your program is about ensuring you have maestro mentors inside your organisation.

Maestro mentoring is the methodology for creating more leaders and nurturing people’s nature (enhancing their gifts) so that they consistently bring the best version of themselves to their work.

Such mentoring has it’s own unique characteristics as well as being integral to the other relationship building and sustaining roles pictured.

There's 3 stages to your program: instigation, intensive, and integration (and a fourth option innovation).

I conduct a 1/2 day master-class and 90 minutes to 3 hours execution planning session for 5 - 15 carefully selected people.

Each participant receives a purposefully designed guidebook (see details below) and you are licensed to forever integrate my IP with yours.

For 3 weeks I provide 1:1/group mentoring plus I host a short check-in each week to review and make meaningful progress visible. These all happen online.

I provide agreed online and in person 1:1 and group mentoring, check-ins and after-action-reviews over 90 days to ensure integration of all new learnings with what is already going well for you.

Innovation option

First Monday of every month Accountability Accelerator online, plus quarterly in person peer group forum held at unique venues within 1 hours drive west of Melbourne.

These events enable people to share stories and learn from other people’s experience.

Participants learn and decide in this program how to be maestro mentors in their own best way.

At micro levels this program will:

enhance your recruitment, onboarding, engagement and retention of employees,
improve your succession planning,
increase your value-delivery and therefore enhance the customer/client experience meaning greater customer/client advocacy, referrals and retention,
create more leaders,
embrace what all the most remarkable learning and development programs do - help people become better versions of themselves, that one-of-a-kind that each of us is,
ensure learning and development becomes integral to daily work,
integrate new learning with whatever else is working well for you,
through the ripple effect from above future-proof your business from disruption, distraction and data challenges.

Background to creating this program

This program has been 40 years in the making.

I became a mentor officially in 1979 after participating in a course because of my role as a financial services executive. I've been a student of mentoring ever since.

1979 was also the year that I first read Mary Parker Follett's ‘The Creative Experience’ (published 1924). Her words as follows are tattooed onto my heart:

Leadership is not defined by the exercise of power but by the capacity to increase the sense of power among those led.

The most essential work of the leader is to create more leaders.

When I left the corporate world in 1991 I set up my professional practice as a mentor.

It was my good fortune at this time to begin a friendship with cricket coach Terry Jenner that was to thrive until his death in 2011. Terry had a unique insight into mentoring. He believed that his role was to enhance people's gifts.

Terry and myself invested many hours exploring and testing this concept as I introduced it to the business world.  For me I've come to understand that 'enhancing their gifts' is the number one role of leadership and that seeing other people as masters is the key to being a maestro mentor. Please view the two short videos below to learn more.

In the past 27 years it's been my honour and privilege to be a mentor for more than 1000 leaders, women and men, in over 40 countries.

Being a maestro mentor requires:
Willingness to influence others regarding the steps necessary to lift performance yet allow others to make their own decisions.
Willingness to listen more than speak.
Willingness to give advice but more to encourage people to find their own way.
Willingness to experience delayed gratification.
Willingness to give away hard earned wisdom.

Now as I approach my 65th birthday I've turned a large part of my professional practice into ensuring there's maestro mentors inside your business and that you have worthy succession plans in place in all levels of your business.

I first met Ian Berry when he was a keynote speaker at an Institute of Directors event in UK. His presentation was passionate and sincere, and his wisdom quite simply compelling.

Since then, I have been fortunate to actively benefit from Ian’s guidance and advice, which have helped me to focus my leadership on both a personal and business level. I count Ian as an outstanding mentor, and I value his input, support and guidance very highly.

Key philosophies of your program

A signature of my work with you is that while what I say is important, it's nowhere near as important as what you hear yourself say to yourself, who you become and then do your own unique work.

My work with you is all about helping you to identify and implement and integrate proven principles in your own best way.

In the spirit of something better

You're part of great business, full of great people, who are doing great work. My work with you therefore is always about being respectful and honouring of what has been and is, yet always with the intention that we are in the continuous pursuit of something better and turning great into remarkable.
